meet Choowi

it wakes up singingswitch it on and your last sound comes back with a little chime and a rainbow on the keys.
one key, a whole chordharmony plays chords in your key, and the keys light up so you can see what's happy and what's moody.
out of ideas?hold two knobs and Choowi forges a new sound. hold two others and it drifts. record anything, roll, and it's an instrument.

put it on your CHOMPI

  1. download choowi-0.20.0-rc3-card.zip (release candidate): the firmware, Choowi's sounds and the manual.
  2. charge CHOMPI (battery light green or white: hold SW6 for 2 s).
  3. back up the SD card, then delete its sample files (jammi_*, cubbi_*) and every file with .bin in the name.
  4. copy everything from the zip to the card, card in, switch on. rainbow, then Choowi says hi.

want stock TAPE back? put your backup back on the card. the zip's NOTICES.txt has the licences.

on a launcher card

running several firmwares from one card with the community multi-firmware launcher (or the CHOMPI setup page)? put Choowi's FORGE.bin on a key there.

  1. for Choowi's sounds, download choowi-samples.zip and copy its .wav files to the card's top folder (the launcher's TAPE keeps its own in TAPE, so they don't clash).
  2. no sounds? Choowi plays fine without them: the synth, chords, effects and Dream don't need them.

don't copy the card zip onto a launcher card: it's for a card with Choowi alone.
